Snow depth is minimal with small increases in snow depth north and west of Nipigon. Most trails and bush roads are ATV/4×4 passable with some isolated deeper snow.

There is very little snow on ice covered areas and windswept areas are near bare.

Ice thickness of small inland lakes are for the most part thick enough for ice fishing at 4″ to 6″ with some ice on small stocked lakes already hitting 10″ to 12″. Ice thickness is never uniform, especially at this time of year.

Black Bay from Hurkett has fast ice in the 6″ to 10″ range with some pressure ridging and separation taking place.

Kama Bay is ice covered and may be safe in some areas although still a risk at this time of year, and always stay near shore.
