Ice fishing hotspots
Kama Bay Lake Superior
20km minutes east of Nipigon is Kama hill and Kama cliffs which overlook Kama Bay. This is a hotspot for whitefish, rainbow, Lake Cisco and Lake Trout fishing through the ice on Lake Superior. Relativity easy to get to via a packed trail or snow machine. Access is via an un-maintained access road as per map.
Jumbo Perch are the species most commonly caught through the ice on Black Bay.
Access is via Hurkett Cove and follow the snowmachine trail out onto the Bay.
Mazukama Bay/Ruby Creek
Large Jumbo Perch that make Black Bays Perch look like babies. A little harder to find sometimes but worth it when you do.
Access via Ruby Lake road – Snow machine trail from the railroad tracks out Ruby Creek.
Access also from approximately 1km east of Jackfish river on small Railroad crossing/snow machine trail out to lake.
Gravel River / Nipigon Bay
Bays end is the eastern end of Thunder Bay typically fishing off the Sibley Peninsula for Lake Trout and Whitefish. Access is limited with common access via walk/snow-machine or ski from Sare Road just before Pass Lake on the Pass Lake Road.
NOTE: This is a private road who allows foot and snow machine access only. Keep it clean and don’t be stupid or lose the access.
