Ice fishing trips
We offer ice fishing excursions to inland lakes and multiple points on Lake Superior. We set everything up, give instructions and tips on fishing and assist wherever you need assistance. No ice-fishing experience is needed!
Ice fishing excursions are subject to weather, to be paid in full at the pickup point on the day of the excursion. Full-day excursions run from 9 am to 4 pm.

Included with day rental:
Two dozen minnows.
Otter Vortex Resort insulated pop-up hut – Setup and heated. Enough room for 4-8 people (4 fishing inside). – Setup and heated.
Hand Auger.
Propane / Big Buddy Heater.
4-8 predrilled holes.
Coleman Stove for cooking outside.
Propane.
Up to 4 Ice fishing rods.
Ice Fishing Live Bait and Tackle
OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK, 24 HOUR BAIT FRIDGE ONSITE!
We are stocked with live minnows as well as preserved baits.
Proven and essential ice fishing tackle is available for purchase in the baitshop.
We carry maps, guidebooks of the area and have additional information on the local areas to fish through the ice.
Lake Superior: Kama Bay
$150 day per day: 9 am-4 pm
Heated and insulated ice hut (4-6 people)
Four pre-drilled Holes inside and four outside.
Easy walk out onto the Ice onto Nipigon Bay.

*Best fishing is early morning or night fishing. Night fishing Burbot is available on request and is set up from 5 pm to 11 pm.
Other Inland fishing opportunities
Pricing depends on location and target fish. Some inland lakes require lengthy Skidoo/snowshoe trips and may sometimes become unavailable. Email guides@nipigon.com or call/text 8078890707 for availability.

Ice fishing hotspots
Stocked Lakes
There are dozens of smaller lakes that have been stocked with Brook Trout and Splake. These lakes are usually a little off the beaten track and offer some great fishing especially in the winter through the ice. Stocked lakes have no closed seasons.

Kama Bay Lake Superior
20km minutes east of Nipigon is Kama hill and Kama cliffs which overlook Kama Bay. This is a hotspot for whitefish, rainbow, Lake Cisco and Lake Trout fishing through the ice on Lake Superior. Relativity easy to get to via a packed trail or snow machine. Access is via an un-maintained access road as per map.

Perch Point Nipigon Bay
Large Jumbo Perch that make Black Bays Perch look like babies. A little harder to find sometimes but worth it when you do.
Access via Ruby Lake road – Snowmachine trail from the railroad tracks out Ruby Creek.
Access also from approximately 1km east of Jackfish river on small Railroad crossing/snowmachine trail out to the lake.

Gravel River / Nipigon Bay
Black Bay
Jumbo Perch are the species most commonly caught through the ice on Black Bay.
Access is via Hurkett Cove and follow the snowmachine trail out onto the Bay.
Jesse Lake
Jesse Lake located on Cameron Falls road is an easy walkout location. Part of the Nipigon River, Jesse lake offers a great Lake Trout, Whitefish and Burbot fishing. Shortened season for Ice fishing but well worth the trip.
